3rd Party Insurance

Hi

Wonder who can do a 3rd party insurrance for my Lotus Exige as unfortunately Henderson will not do this kind of insurrances.

I only need a 3rd party because I have already a full comprehensive abroad but need a UK insurence to get registered in the insurance database.

Henderson needs 1,237.75 for full comprehensive with an
XS of 650.00 (I had a little accident last year :frowning: )

Regards

It really depends on the value of your car I think. Most UK insurers will only let you go 3rd party up to a value of around 6-7000. You could always state the value at 5k for the car and then you will most likely be able to get 3rd party for a lot less.

Of course it depends on your reasons for needing to insure it, but if you’re not driving it over here then I don’t see it being an issue

Hi Lee

It is a late 2005 Exige 240 CUP(roadgoing version). Later it is topped up with bigger brakes, rollcage, masterswitch and fire ext. So it is well above GBP 5.000,-

Other insurance options to consider (other underwriters perhaps)?

Dont think any insurer will put an exige on 3rd party, unless you state less than 5k value like Lee_07S said, most may still demand fully comp because of the insurance group.

I appreciate that the actual value is more like 25,000 rather than 5,000, but insurers in the UK will not give you 3rd party cover for a car that is declared over 5,000 in value.
The only option you have to get 3rd party cover, is state the value at around 5,000 and then you may be lucky. As h3xi3 says though, some may still not cover third party due to the high insurance group of an Exige. I think it is going to be very tricky for you.

If you do not need to drive it in the UK then you will probably be able to get away with a declared value of say 4,000 as long as you have another policy on the car in the country it is going to be used, but my advice would be to buy online. Hopefully this will help
