Just though I’d ask as had a couple of people complain about them wearing out prematurely, though I’ve not heard anything directly…
Just wondering if its true or another one of these where someone once had a problem with one damper!!

I’m aware that some folk have had the odd problem Phil
I had Evo’s I think 9k he put on them (no doubt all soft road use itchy chin lol ) and I’ve done 8k. No probs and not serviced by me (although revalve/slight respring end of this year).
What do you mean anyway Phil, worn out?
I had my 46 mm set serviced this winter after rear offside started to leak. This was down to a small stone chip on the piston rod which had caused the seal to wear slightly. Just one of those things. Could have happened to any manufacturers.
I think basically leaking - had a few sets for sale recently & some guys (mainly on VXR’s so probably not the same damper)have had problems with them leaking. As with Will though could have been anything. Just wondered if there was a major failure problem with these
I think any damper where the piston rod is exposed to the elements is going to wear at a faster rate than an OE road damper, that has the rod and everything enclosed by a rubber boot. As Will has said the most common fault is a bit of crap getting stuck to the rod and as the damper goes up and down it damages the seal.

Poor seals!

I’m in Banff right now so will ask around for the general Canadian opinion.
I had a similar seal problem with a 2 year old Suzuki GSX-R 750, it has USD forks. Insects get stuck on the fork rods, dry and harden, and then they start rubbing the seals. As all the oil is above the seal it leaks on to the front brakes … nice !!!
