Having finally got an Exige S2 after selling a Radical, I am now in two minds as to which direction to take with it… it is a (rather tatty… needing lots of TLC) 2005 n/a 190 with the 2ZZ Toyota engine … so if anybody has an unloved/unwanted complete supercharger kit or possibly a TODA or MWR stroker kit that they no longer want, then I would be very interested!
The stroker kit would keep me in the Under 2-litre class for hill climbs and sprints, while the supercharger path would put me up against those pesky EVOs and Subarus etc in the Over 2-litre class … decisions decisions! Any thoughts/comments most welcome!
What ever you do, always think about the torque limits of the gearbox, starts with 3rd or 4th gear failure and then the final drive, sadly the gearbox was designed for 190hp and no toque to speak of
OK thanks for that info,
I’ll also have a look at the gearbox side of things, … TODA kit now sorted, thanks folks!
whats a TODA kit ???
Its a company , or brand that make the stroker for a 2zz.
It would now seem that my stroker kit seller was a scammer (Bastaddd!) who replied to my ‘wanted’ advert and therefore a small deposit lost … Ya live and learn eh!
So, back to the drawing board now regards upgrading the S2 Exige!
Grrrrr…
Do you have a name so I can search our DB , or for people to watch out for?
Please name and shame if you have been scammed even if it was only a few quid
False name was used, and a ‘subscription account’ so not much to trace there …ho hum !!
Anyway, on a more positive note, my Monkeywrench Racing USA 2ZZ ‘stroker kit’ has arrived in UK Customs so I’ll get on (not me personally of course!) with the engine build as I’m having the head ported and Kent cams fitted, matched to a full 2bular exhaust system (sometime!).
Exciting times!
Very interesting indeed! I’ve read good things about the MWR stroker kit! are you going with Stage 2 cams? How about the ECU?
Well, I don’t really want to start changing ECUs and wiring if possible, so I’m hoping that a fuel regulator and the ‘fast road’ cams with not take too much re-tuning, but we will have to wait and see. I don’t want it to be too raucous for the road as I already have a 225bhp K-Series Elise with an ultra close-ratio Quaife-kit box, Jenveys & 2bular full system which is bloody great for hill climbs… but a nightmare noisy clunking rattling brute of a bastadd on any road trip … however short! (Good fun tho!!)
