I’m considering replacing the exhaust on my car with a 2bular due to the need for extra length (see my thread about making it spit fire), and wonder what taipipe options I have. I quite like the idea of a single 2.5" slash cut pipe (i.e with no rolled edge) or alternatively twin round pipes.I do think the single pipe might look a little lost, but then keep thinking about the bulky look of twin pipes…
Any pics of YOUR 2bular would be appreciated and any feedback you have of the fitting/sound/customer service would be great.
What kind of lead time can I expect from ordering??
You can have any tip option you like. I’ve made twin round plain/slashed/rolled. Single round plain/slashed/rolled and oval 6"x4" or 6"x3" plain/rolled. Also Zircotec coated for bling.
2012 has gone off at one heck of lick - this is s’posed to be the time when I can take a break - ain’t happening - it’s crazy out there.
If you want to do trackdays, it’s the 7" x 24" can. If you want an exhaust which makes the car sound like it looks - the 6"x18".
Lead time on these is two weeks - thang yaw!
3" straight cut tail pipe on a 3" system on the Sc Honda’d car with 4-1 2" headers from Jim about 5 years ago
Rolled Oval can messure it when I go out if required but it looks wicked IMO on a 2.5" system and cat on Pheonix’s cut and shut honda manifold on the N/A car
Yessssssss, Ti is attractive on the weight-saving side but …the way the Elise/Exige exhausts are rigidly mounted gives cause for concern though.
Take a look at most, (possibly all, now) Jap Ti systems and the silencer has a Stainless saddle clamp taking care of the mounting brackets - a possible solution.
The “Ti” exhaust on the 340R is only the Ti silencer skin wrapped around the Stainless end-caps/pipework. It doesn’t have the internal capacity to handle the gas-flow on the VHPD if you track the car regularly - seen enough of them now with a hole blown out of them. Shame because it looks sensa-Ti-onal.
I think my current lotus power exhaust with my current mods is dynoed around 205bhp noise not so sure but not very loud. But usually I have high tolerance with engine noise
Just asking because the largest silencer I use for noise control - 8"dia - wouldn’t work with the saddle-clamp arrangement, no space. 7"dia would be ok though. I’m on the S1 jig today, so I’ll get back to you.
