240R at Bell & Colvile

Just been in to Bell & Covile to get some oil. In their showroom was their first 240R waiting to be picked up.

It looked fantastic in black with the yellow calipers and yellow trim parts inside.

Anybody living close should get down there before Mr Lucky B’strd goes to pick it up.

Apparently they have sold 8 of the 50 available.

Does the engine cover fit flush with the rear clam?

Yes, does the engine cover fit flush with the rear clam?

Hi Mr Pesky,

As Nick said the engine cover does fit flush but the engine bay is a lot more congested than normal. No engine bay side covers so you can see all the metalwork and the Ohlins clearly. This model had an Acusump fitted also so bang goes the small boot. Still looked great though.

I think you’ll find that Nick was asking the same question as me If you get chance, could you pop round to B&C & look at the engine cover/rear clam from the side?

Sorry,

You are right, I thought he was making a statement and not asking a question. When I arrived at B & C the engine cover was shut and looked to be flush with the clam. There is very little clearance between the top of the intercooler and the engine cover though.

There is a plastic channel that feeds air from the roof scoop into the intercooler. This is right up against the engine cover.

There are now to struts holding the cover up. One on each side.

Thanks Henry - know all that, cos I’ve seen Nick’s mota close up a couple of times.

Still, if you get chance, please have a look again at the cover Give you a clue - the cover on Nick’s car, stands proud by about 1/2", over the clam…

I’m at Brands tomorrow, working Friday but I will pop down on Saturday with a camera.

Sounds about right…

1/2" - a proper measurement - when petrol was 4s11d a gallon and beer was 10d a pint…
