Anyone know how much they are? Considering going rose jointed suspension and it seems sensible to add them in
deroue say £184 + vat a pop
I got mine front EliseParts… I don’t recall how much they were though. They were about the same price as the other wishbones.
Ade
You should also get the 211 steering arms as it keeps bump steer correct without move the rack etc
It’s what I have on mine
yeah I have the EP arms here
Why bother? A road car isn’t going to get low enough to put the ball joints at a critical angle.
Besides a man of your means should go straight to the alloy uprights with the hub centres moved up.
How low are you planning on running the car Ade? I’ve been running mine at 105, 115, on the original wishbones. I’m going to be changing the uprights over the winter, and was looking at new wishbones as well.
I was just thinking it was a wise thing to do whilst doing the rose joints, if the consensus is not to bother I’ll save my cash
Mine runs at a similar height Will about 108, what uprights are you going for?
Ive got Nitron front and Eliseparts rear been sitting in the garage for a while. If I could think of something sensible to do about a handbrake with the rears they would already be on the car.
Ask Dave about it. As I recall the ball joint would only be outside of it’s safe range if on full drop whilst turning at full lock (-ish, forgive my Hull to English translation)
Makes sense to me even though you don’t understand!!!
All joking aside, why did lotus go to the bother and expense of making these arms if they arn’t needed, Lotus need to employ some experts me thinks…
Maybe a road car just can’t be low enough to make it an issue for the ball joints, think I will skip them and move on with my plans for rose joints without them, they would have added a large chunk on the price of the work anyway
Anything below about 120 and the joint will be under tension in full lock…
Jack the front of your car in the air and turn from lock to lock
Whilst doing this watch the wheels move up and down = ball joints locking out and lifting the wheels (ball joint under tension /squashing the road spring)
No one seems to have ‘a problem’ but that doesn’t make it right, we all spend thousands modifying our cars, why not spend a few hundred more and do the job properly???
