2008 spec

Ok, here’s a link to a lots dealer in Germany with info on the 2008 spec:

http://www.lotus-haese.de/Lotus%20Gesamtpreisliste%20Modelljahr%202008.pdf

It’s in German so I try to translate some:

Biggest news for the Exige S: there’s going to be a porfance package. This will contain:
Big Brake
CUP roof
Variable TC (like the 2-11)
Upgraded clutch
and 243 bhp performance upgrade

ps there is no mention of beeing available as a retrofit. Oh yes, take a look at the colour scheme. Loads of new names…

Sadly, you missed out the biggest change of all:

Auszug aus der Serienausstattung Elise / Exige / Europa

  • Airbag Fahrer- und Beifahrerseite

In other words, MY08 now includes airbags in all Elises/Exiges and the Europa. Nice!

Thanks for posting though.

I was told that would be the case when I was at Lipscombe’s in May.

Well, I’m really happy I have my MY05 Exige. From then on, it just went all downwards: Traction control, drive-by-wire… and now, air-bags.

Doesn’t look like I’ll be getting a Lotus again, since they are moving more and more away from the purist market. Wasn’t thinking of selling mine anyway.

if by downwards you mean better, safer, more responsive… then yes, I agree

Perhaps I missed your definition of more responsive, but what makes you think drive-by-wire is more responsive?

when i push the pedal on the right, it responds more than my 54 N/A exige did

So bugger all to do with the supercharger then?

another one of those pesky downwards improvements!

another one of those pesky downwards improvements!

You’ve still got a long way to go then!

Thank the supercharger for that. NA vs NA, I can assure you, the drive-by-wire is quite a bit less responsive. I’ve driven both and have actually tested this specifically when deciding between MY05 / MY06. You can’t beat a direct link up between foot and engine.

Cheers Phil

Also, it looks like the N/A Exige has been dropped.
