2004 Exige S2...

Whilst I liked the idea of carbon seats - I had looked at Eltech Italia and a few others, I wasn’t so keen on the current Lotus design, when I test drove a Sport 350 with them, the pad design made them a bit uncomfortable (for me at least) - So as I was able to procure the carbon shells, I started a conversation with Allon White…

Lead time was quite long, but it gave me a chance to find a design that I liked and suited the car… so in late August last year I got this picture from Allon White…

They look tidy. I so need some seats in my exige …

I had decided not to use the harness hole at the bottom as the trimmer has told me that the material can start to loosen after a while, and I wasn’t planning to use a full harness anyway. On getting the seats back and getting ready to fit them, we discovered that early Toyota cars have slightly different seat runners to the later cars…the same as the later K series cars - so with help from junks and his ‘network’ we found some frames in Germany that didn’t cost the earth and had very little play too (a bonus). Fitting the seats was not trivial as things only just lined up and we had to ‘adjust’ some of the fixings…

After some messing around, bit of cleaning, adding a carbon fibre centre console to go with the sill covers, and replacing the speakers in the rear (and then the front as well) with Focal AC series, seats went in…

Very happy with result…

I bet you are happy with the result. I cannot wait for the messing about with runners that you experienced. Ill be messaging you when it comes to that time

Seats are amazing, great choice

Thanks Guys… appreciated…

I tore my hair out for hours trying to build the seat frames and get the seats in when I bought my Reverie Carbon ones, but well worth the countless hours fettling spacers and length of bolts etc. I was so glad Lee didn’t take the car with the seats as with “some” effort (read hours) I got them to fit in the Clio

They look stunning

Enjoying the pics and updates

One recent update I forgot to post about was my steering wheel - the original was getting a bit tired (although its ok) - but I was offered the below, so I jumped at the chance as it was a good price and virtually brand new…

The dash looks fantastic. The wheel looks good as well

Cheers Andy… you can have other Lotus dashes as well, plus the Race screen that’s similar to the 311 one… thats why I like it… so for MOT you have the original white dash, then abroad I use one that is km/h (For which I use one like the 2009/10 black dash)
It’s not as flash as the AIM, but many more options and configuration options…

Assume it’s the GARW variant? Are all you input sensors fed from the aftermarket ECU?

Yes it’s garw… I still have the T4… but with a new map… but as long as after market ecu sends canbus as the lotus one does, then should work no issue… guess your Oem dash works fine with your aftermarket ecu ?

I do like the concept of the GARW and I’ve read the (hundreds) of forum posts about it, and the rollercoaster of its development but it still appeals to me a bit more than the AIM does. Price is only half of that reason, the other half being the fact that it is a ‘made in a shed’ solution which comes with its benefits and drawbacks of course but also means that you can become a part of that development journey if you so chose.

I’ve still not bought one mind, but I would still consider one even considering the AIM is unquestionably a more polished offering.

Ditto what Fonzey said.

Yes , can use support from my ECU

Agree Fonzey… I am actually helping him with the fuel levels at the moment… it seems the early Toyota cars especially have a terrible sensor (or at least I do) and the fuel level moves around a lot without heavy damping (which the oem must have). We are trying a time based reading to see if that helps…

Just use the correct can channel. Job done
