I hear that this year’s show will be of “interest”. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]
Come on Pesky stop teasing what do you know?
It’s catching [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] http://www.british-cars.co.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=lotusbbs&mode=thread&access=&subject=2001&source=T&thread=2002081319342415856
Now i know why i don’t go to that bbs board very often, some people just don’t have a clue,(sub 20k for a car that does 0-100 inless than 8.5 sec, that can be used for more than going round a track!)IMO it has to be an Esprit replacment 55k-65k upwards, platform share with another manufacture, its been on the cards for a while.Lotus already class the 111 Elise against the Boxer,so I think that they are targeting slightly higher (996,Trevor,sorry TVR)I guess some of you will have to wait and see! PeskyWhat’s the news at the forth coming Birmingham motor show ?, Don’t tease us, give us some joyus news [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] regarding LotusG
GeraldI honestly don’t know any more than I said in my original post. We’ll have to wait & see [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]
“The show will be of interest” ?By that they probably expect us to get excited over yet ANOTHER limited Edition Elise, supposedly reminiscent of some victory, event, racecar long forgotten… like the Type 49, 25, 72, 69 or whatever, when it amounts to no more than a paint job.(either that or unveil another car, take deposits and never build it…)[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 25 September 2002).]
Geee, are we a little bitter with Lotus? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]Come on, take a deep breath, let it go, it’s all going to be Ok. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]
Oh… I only said what everyone else was thinking…

[Not wanting to pump his ego but it seems] David was right!!!The only interesting thing reported on the Lotus stand is [wait for it] a new (expensive) colour scheme for the Elise 2 - Type 49.I guess it’s worse than that, as it’s the red/white/gold style we’ve seen before on the original Elise I believe!Boo!Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]ps. I’ll have a closer look about myself on Friday
I’m going tomorrow (Weds) - I’ll keep my peelers open and let you know if I find anything!Mike
Talking to guys at Storm (now Bramalls)of Leicester last Sat - apparently they are actually financing Lotus stand and representing them at Show - not good news.
Obviously, I was misled - sorry guys [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]I understand that the Lotus stand is being manned to a large extent by dealer personnel.
Anyone had a chance to look over the Noble M12 GTO track biased model at the show? 400bhp, roll cage, etc. Sounds quite interesting if a bit pricey (68k?).Any piccies of it?
Told you so [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/tongue.gif[/image]
Hi all,Nothing to report. The Lotus stand consists of three S2 Elise, std, 111S and 49. Detailed questioning revealed nothing of interest - but apparently M250 is still alive and will appear in 2004, perhaps. However…On the Vauxhall stand is a stunning DIESEL version of the VX220, called ECO, with a 1.3 diesel motor and they are claiming 155mph and 50mpg. Not for production though… I know Lotus have been doing lots of diesel stuff but the guy on the Vauxhall stand didnot know whether this engine work was a Lotus or a Vauxhall development. Worth a look. http://buypower.vauxhall.co.uk/motorshow/index.jhtml?source=homePage# I think they should sell it.BTW, for those of you who still use old fashioned petrol engined cars as daily drivers it’s time you tried a modern diesel. They’re fantastic. E.g. found out today that my Passat 1.9pd can be chipped from its current 115bhp and 203lb/ft to 155bhp and 293 lb/ft for 500… Mike[This message has been edited by 83man (edited 23 October 2002).]

From a 1.9? You’re not tempting me much there I’m afraid Mike.Mark

It’s not meant to be an Exige substitute. In any case it’s the torque figure which is the impressive one and which gives the car real bite. I really do think that the diesel engine is heading into a sports car soon ( e.g. Golf GTIs are now avilable with this engine so where next…?RegardsMike
