Petrolhead - do you have to get permission from the swiss authorites when you change an exhaust, I know you have to on performance modifications, but not sure about an exhaust.

Yes, that’s right.
Tuning for road use has to be controlled by the SVA (“Road & Traffic Dept.”).
You can’t fit every aftermarket parts. With the Stage2-Exhaust, they are not your friends…
Every car has to be checked after the 5 first years, and then every 2 years.
The Cup255 with the Stage2 was incredible loud!! It was no plasure to drive with this, and on Tracks like Hockenheim, Nordschleife (Touristdrives) or Spa you can’t race with the Stage2.
With the original Stage1, the sound of the Cup255 is a little bit boring.
The 2-Eleven is between the Stage1 and Stage2. I think it’s no problem to take the permission with this exhaust.
PS: The 2-Eleven will be roadlegal in Switzerland. My Dealer has sold 5 Cars with SVA-Kit and 1 Racecar.

Just about every modified part on your car requires a certificate of road worthyness. If you happen to be checked by the police and they find that there’s a part on your car that’s not original and you don’t have a document for it (or/and an entry in the vehicles papers), good luck. Exhaust are definately one of these parts.
Depending on the car, it may be a bit more difficult to see on first glance what’s original and what isn’t (there aren’t that many on the road after all).
Stage 2’s aren’t road legal here in Switzerland - technically, neither is the Stage 1 as there isn’t a certificate. As the Stage 1 isn’t that loud (not much more than original anyway, it’s tolerated). Amusingly, all are sold officially via Lotus dealers. Will be very interested to see what will happen in 2009 when the first cars with a Stage 2 will attempt to pass MOT…
Yes, this will be a problem, if you (or your dealer) have not de original exhaust by side…
My Cup255 was delivered with the stage1 and accepted by the SVA.
I’ve tried the Stage2, but after 20mls i have changed this to original spec…
At my first Exige (189bhp) the stage2 was not so (very) loud at low rpm.
OT:
Do you have also a Cup255 or is this a 240Cup?
My spoilers and the side-air-intake are also in the color of the car (#097). Some Cup255 have their spoilers like a normal Exige in black.
Yes, that’s my car in the video. Photo below of the car with the HD camera setup – looks like some alien machine trying to invade the cockpit.
As for the roll cage, I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same – for the US, the roll cage was designed to be SCCA legal.
The US cars were to supposed to come with non-functional front lights. When we had the clam off, we discovered that the light housings were in tact as well as the wiring. All that was missing were the bulbs.
Jackson how difficult were the headlight tints to apply? How much do they effect the intensity of the beam when driving at night? cheers
Don’t know about the tint installation – the car came like that from Lotus. There were supposed to be no head lights in the car. As mentioned above, all that is missing to make the lights functional are the bulbs. The tint Lotus used reduces the light intensity significantly – not a good mod for a street driven car, imo.
