Sure some of you have resolved this already. The power socket for some reason is mounted between the seats, instead of the front of the centre trim near to the dash. It’s a right pain as I have charger leads running between the seats to the dash and getting tangled with seat belts and harnesses etc. My trim has the hole, just blanked off. Has anyone fitted another socket there? If so does a standard/halfords socket fit or does it have to be a Lotus specific?
You could fit one to the roof.
Oh, wait a minute…
He could fit it to a sky hook though Tim
Go in from under the dash Mark use to live and earth from the radio then maybe hang it out somewhere…its not hard getting the dash off at all. You could also route from the lighter itself under the centre tunnel and hang under the dash near the OBD.
Yes I have, mainly because I wanted to use my SatNav , and I don’t like trailing wires back to OE socket, stupid place for Lotus to put it IMHO
Where did you relocate it? Any parts you recommend? Ideally a Power Socket that fits in the centre trim panel near to the gear stick
Relocated mine while I changed the gear tunnel to carbon, I just extended the cables and then fitted the 12v socked back in to the front section. Not sure if it was the carbon one I had bought, but the 12v socket wasn’t the greatest fit, I had to pad it out with some insulating tape for it to stay in.
In all a simple job, also consider a 12v to USB convertor, picked on up off eBay for £5 delivered from china, has 2 usb sockets, fitted it in my mates clio, powered his NAV but would charge his iPhone though
Cheers Ade. I’ll go and buy a 12v socket from Halfrauds and give it a go.
I’ve already got 2 of these USB adapters, feel really good quality and fit very nicely in the socket, ie don’t protrude too much
