mk 1 known problems and things to look out for

Im away down to look at a mk 1 exige for sale. It has 30,000 miles on it. What should i be looking for?

Oh, and a comprehensive service record. If its still with the original & unmolested K series, It'll be due a 'refresh'

only fair to point out to a "stranger" that this view is not shared by all who are still running a VHPD; and seems to be a key "justification" for more than a few who have gone down the Hoda/Audi engine conversion route...

Yeah, the service record is the key item.

Sorry if I upset the K series faithfull (for me it is the right option btw )

I would add, have a good look underneath. A shiney car up top can be hiding some really corroded wishbonmes and stuff. They all show signs of surface corrosion, but this shouldn't be in to much of an advanced state. Steering racks can wear, show check for play there, ball joints and wishbone bushes are also popular things to show wear.

Yep....Get it jacked up and shake the wheels to check ball joints, front and toe links rear.
Exige was built for the track so stone chips are a certainty....respray it and they will all be back in a week
