I've also been looking at intake manifolds... I'm going to try to find out if a Corolla 2ZZ manifold will fit without fouling anything and then work from there... If anyone knows in advance, that would be awesome!
I have also looked for this information on the net, but could not find feedback from anyone who would have tried on an S2 Elise or Exige. The end of the intake manifold, where the throttle body is place is slightly different. What seems to be possible however is to combine a Corolla manifold with a R9k manifold, as the end of the R9k manifold seems to align with the Celica one :
I spoke with r9ktuned about this the other day - they said they weren’t sure about fitment as it does have an angle to the end where the throttle body mounts (similar to the Corolla) so I ordered a Corolla intake to see if that would work in our cars - will let you know when I get it…

It will be interesting to see indeed ! There seems to be a few bhp to gain with some small tweaks to the intake ...
Yes indeed! I noticed some Corolla owners reporting up to 8bhp just from porting the intake manifold… but then, it seems you really can’t always trust forums for bhp gains sometimes… :/ Mine’s at 210bhp and it feels like it - but according to a lot of these forums it should’ve been much more than that, so I don’t necessarily believe everything I read nowadays

US based forum by chance? They seem to have smaller horses than us. But like their gallons.
Either way just use a dyno as a tuning tool and don’t jump from one to the other.
Would be interested in seeing results from port matching on gaskets
The Corolla manifold turned up today and after a bit of guesswork and fiddling, I think it should probably squeeze in there. So I’ve done the only sensible thing (as-per man-maths guidelines) and ordered the r9ktuned plenum and gaskets… Need to find someone to port the Corolla intake runners for me and then I’ll get it installed!
Hello Matt,
I'm a french guy and I just discovered your post. I'm following it with interest. I own an elise 111R so with the same 2ZZ engine, I've been looking at the R9K plenum for a long time but without knowing if it was possible to install it.
My goal is to stay in atmospheric. Do you have any news about the R9K plenum and the installation ?
If you have any advice for the preparation of this engine I'm interested.
Thanks a lot
