Bearing deterioration is fairly common with the early AS15 type bearings(part no LFB10023), the later AS16 type (prt number LFB000150) are much tougher. This is comprehensively documented on a couple of threads here on Exiges, this type of bearing was known to delaminate and break up on the standard factory engine tests at relatively low RPM and engine loading. It’s a wonder they were ever passed for use.

Just finalising a few bits and pieces this end then I’ll be putting together a shopping list for you to get together for me
Nice to know that I won’t have to worry about this happening so readily again. I shall be adding an oil pressure/temp probe to the rebuild now so that I can keep a closer eye with what’s going on too
