VHPD Engine Woes!

If it starts and runs fine for a while it must be to do with something getting warm or the ecu trying to switch to closed loop control. When it’s running badly and you stop and restart the engine does it start ok and run smoothly fir a short time?

Definitely this. Clearly they don’t have a clue so get it away from them and into somewhere who does before they do any further damage.

I tend to agree. I don’t think it’s serious but it needs someone who knows what they are doing. Btw, The ecu does not produce useful fault codes.

I’m with Dave

Sorry to hear you’re still having problems, Graham. Thought it was all sorted. When you have exhausted all your options over there why not try Ollie at Phoenix Motorsport in Accrington, over my way. Or what about Faulds In Huddersfield? Although I dare say you have thought of that.
I was hoping you’d be in the S1 for the Nyloc tour . . .

It’ll be the 340R then😳

Hi Thommo

I’m still on the NYLOC Tour but will be driving my 250 Cup, pretty impressed with it tbh, just a shame they don’t do a similar size Exige these days.

Regarding the 340R, i’d love to take it but it rained nearly every day on the last tour

I agree with Dave aka Seriously Lotus and everyone else.

I did originally contact the chatty guy from NZ (forgotten his name) ? but he was booked for months and that was with me having just the engine sent down…….so I went for the local option which will be 2yrs this September

I’ll contact Ollie after the tour

Only runs smoothly when it’s cold, I was hoping to get down there this week but I’ve just been too busy, it’ll be around 3wks before I get the chance.

I’m going to give the mechanic the list of things mentioned, that could be wrong with the engine………both times the engine was sent away for the rebuild, so I imagine the actual rebuild is ok ?

Wise move moving to Ollie.

We have a GAV down here in Burton Unit 4, ex Lotus and a very clever guy.

Report back

Gav is excellent. Tip for Exigers, if you are a member of the RAC they will move cars cost effectively even if it’s not a breakdown. You have to pay by the mike but it’s a low rate.

Chris Foulds in Huddersfield has a decent reputation and a bit closer to you than Burton (just thinking about transport costs).

Sorry to hear Graham

If you want a second opinion - please let me know and could pop across.

I presume the simple checks will have been carried out? - interchanging injectors, plugs on the errant cylinder?
