Supercharger help

The thing is you could rag it to try and brake it but it wont happen in warrenty it WILL happen about a month or so outside and they wont touch it, I really would rather try and get it sorted inside warranty.
So you get the heat shield thing wwhen lifting off? does it happen at certain times under load?

“Another thing I have noticed is when charging between corners at high revs, when I lift off to apply the brakes, the engine gives a momentary “shove and a lurch” as if it is still driving on itself?”

Mine does this as well - thought it was just me and my size 11s!

It’ due to the exsesive movement in the trivetrain mounts… you are gettin engine braking applying torque to the engine mounts causing the shutter upsettin the car…

Nice one Frank - I’ll live with it for the time being as the car is still under warranty.

Boothy, I won’t be keeping this car outside of a warranty (either factory, due up in August or an extended) so not an issue for me!

The rattling heatshield type noise can happen low down if I overload the engine in town (too high a gear) and sometimes half way through the rev range as well if you have your foot buried etc - pretty intermittent but mostly when the engine is under load and then when coming off the throttle at high revs? It doesn’t bother me too much as it is fairly short lived.

BTW - Not trying to hijack the thread but I had the roof off today to solve a leak and creak with GT85 and silicone lubricant but unfortunately only solved the creak (which was nice) but after washing, the headlining pad at the centre rear is still wet (not as bad as before). The seals all look intact etc, so I am a bit baffled by this one?

I went for a razz with the roof off and even though I really am not a fan of convertibles, I thoroughly enjoyed it! The bang/crashyness went due to the wind noise and open acoustics, making the car seem much smoother - I reckon that Elise SC will be a nice car to drive?

Dude a little urethane in the mounts won’t harm anything…Why live a car that gets jumpy entering a corner…I won’t tell

i dont think its the heatshield… i think its the classic gearbox sound. Basically the gearbox is very close to your head - what you are hearing is ‘chatter’ in the box when you come of the gas. Sounds like a lot of nails in a tin being shaken. I’ve had it on my S1 Elise, S2 exige and S2 ‘S’ exige… seems to be a classic case of TADTS… it can get very loud (worryingly so)

Give me a ring tomorrow, & take me out for a short spin (unless you’re off to the TC with 'er indoors).

I might even do you a deal on the racesuit, if it fits

Will do my best mate, should be able to get over at some point.

We also have a few racin’ drivers over at mine tomorrow morning playing at fixing race cars so you are welcome to come over and have a couple more opinions.

Cheers pal, dont think I will get chance tho as will be working
Dad, will probably try and get over one night in the week as the weather is awful and showing no signs of drying out atm, I went out for a totter and the roads are like driving on lard so its probably better to leave it till dry as you need to be opening it out a little to hear the noise

Boothy - no probs, I’ve been working all day too!

Here is your fix for the exsesive drivetrain movement…

The filled mounts work perfectly…

Frank do you have pictures of the motor mounts. That one in that thread looks quite Toyota made if you know what I mean. If that is the case, TRD do a set which could fit.
