Oh my God! What have I done. It’s gone for good this afternoon. After ten years I am no longer an Exiger… but it was fun while it lasted and the early days on this forum represent some of the best motoring camaraderie ever.
I’ll miss it. Especially when I see it!
We all presume that you’ll still be “here”, Mike, & continue to contribute for many years to come!
Has the “new” Lotus arrived in Kineton yet?
@New@, but actually very old, car arrives tomorrow (Sunday)
(BTW Rob, small package being delivered in my old Exige to the Buckles next Tuesday if you’re going - if not then in due course)
Hi Mike - I actually spoke with Andy this evening - he’d just popped in at his ancestral pile, to show off his Exige!
He mentioned the “brown envelope”, so thanks (although I have no idea what it contains)
Mike…Mike Just caught up with this …WOW really sorry to learn about your troubles so understand why you had to make the decision.
Hope you will keep us reliably informed on the “LOTII” team name stupidity,
And I hope to see you at VSCC events as I am about to scratch the itch I have ( although my project might not be quite old enough for your events although the driver is.
regards to you both
Clive
To be honest Clive, last Monday I had a knee operation and I feel ten years younger - I didn’t realise just how much pain I was in until it went away! I’m cancer free as far as we know so it is really only the left knee replacement, 18 inches of missing large bowel and several abdominal surgical wounds (plus plastic infill) that I have to complain about. Other than that life is good.
WRT to two Lotus F1 teams my latest missive is in Chicance, of course, but you might be interested to know that I was approached by lawyers representing Group Lotus seeking my opinion on feelings among the Lotus fan base.
VSCC is in rude health and we have 37 MSA permitted events this year including 6 race days. Johm Miles is going to be racing with us in 2011 I believe with an Austin 7 (which being John’s will, of course be prepared to a very high standard I’m sure) so if you want to prove that you are better than a GP driver now’s yer chance!
I pick up a Lotus Cortina MkII tomorrow and I still have the Elite so I’m keeping up my Lotus end.
Really glad that it sounds like things are on the up for you in 2011 Mike even on the day you saw your Exige go.
Looking forward to seeing the Lotus Cortina…is it coming to Anglesey?
Hi Ben,
Thanks, yes I hope so.
Saw your ol’ Exige at Donington today Mike
Sad you had to sell but it couldn’t have found a better owner
Sounds good Mike. Can’t wait to see your Lotus Cortina.
Don’t get too excited Sean - it’s very workmanlike but has already brought a smile to my face. Very nostalgic!
You got Carol speadeagled over it, already???
Reading maps, of course, you filthy minded lot!
Just to close this off, here is a pic of the Cortina that now sits where the Exige was…
Looks totally mint Mike, well done. I can imagine it now 3-wheeling on the exit of Cascades
More workmanlike than mint to be honest Ben, but it goes well!
Looks fantastic Mike, I’m expecting some lovely wheel waving, 3 wheeling shots from the next trackday…
Looking forward to seeing the Cortina in a couple of weeks, Mike.
COOL MAN!!!
Mike we should have drifting competitions at Anglesey, my Lotus wont be finished, so I will mainly be going sideways in my scooby!!
Fantastic Cortina Mike
Glad to hear your prognosis is reasonable given what you must have been through.
My better half’s father has just been battling with bowel cancer too and touching wood, he’s now cancer free as well, so it’s hopefully good from here on out. My better half herself has a terminal illness that’ll eventually account for her too, and sometimes we’ve just got to do what’s right while we’re still here
It looks mint!!!
