Ade, what you say makes sense to me, however I have come across this (see the attached pic and read below Ride Height). Lotus is also recommending 120/120 for track use.

A stager is important on an S1, but not so on an S2.
Adding rake (so the front is lower than the back) will shift the aerodynamic centre of pressure for the car forwards, which would help with high speed stability. I would suspect that this is the majority of the problem. You are essentially experiencing a much larger amount of lift at the front wheels at speed with the current setup which is why any “twichyness” in the car would be far worse at speed and no doubt much lighter steering.
