I do miss looking at my S1 when it was sat in the garage
Loving my 250 Cup and already done 500 miles in the 5 weeks I have had it. I was expecting to have to change the exhaust for something with a bit more character, but the standard on the new ones is pretty decent sound.
Steering seems much heavier on the Cup than my S2 Elise, even with them both on A048’s
I really loved my 190bhp S2 Exige and often thought about fitting a supercharger, but even after 77000 miles its absence didn’t hold me back. Now I’ve got one and nearly 250bhp, I’m not sure I am much faster, but clearly acceleration is more linear than the Exige which set off again at 6000 revs.
If I’m honest, I miss that excitement a little high up the rev range, and I think the Elise doesn’t have the presence on the road that the Exige had.
Nevertheless I wanted to move on, and I believe the 250 Cup is a natural nimble successor to the S2 Exige. I did not want the extra power, weight, cost, and bulk of an S3 Exige
.
It wasn’t until I did the Euro Trip in the 250 that I realised how much better it is than my S1 Exige (which I’ve also used on trips) and the sport mode does liven it up a bit
I do find until the engine reaches temperature that the 17.5 250 exhaust booms too loud, also my biggest dislike is that it sits too high at the front, car looks pretty bandy legged, so a lower suspension will be an upgrade for me to consider…………it is one of them cars that grow on you
