We have S1,S2 and Elise sections, but no Esthi section. Why not?
Because you’d only be talking to yourself !
How can you say that with 385 views with contributions from Rox Teddy, Pesky, SeanB etc?

Now that’s a car that would suit a Pesky wing and maybe then it could be deemed an Exige variant and Ken you could get your own section - you would have to promise never to take the lid off though
Conditions, conditions. I am a free man!

Yep, but this an Exige forum - have you considered I am a free man, not a number

That’s who I had in mind.

Love the rear opening clam, do you have access to any moulds, spares or other bespoke bits of the project?
Ken
Personally, I would love to follow your progress with this very interesting project, & would welcome your regular updates, a la SeanB & his race Exige development.
Furthermore, the Esthi is indeed unique (as far as I know?), in that it got official factory backing, plus it is based upon the Elise/Exige DNA.
Accordingly, I personally do feel it would be appropriate to open a seperate section for your project, as in my opinion it does merit it
PS Don’t put me down as a potential customer, though!

I have located the clam makers and they are willing to sell me the moulds.

SeanB has already made contact with a view to a closer inspection.
Unusually Lotus gave written consent for the developement of this car and the badging and name to B+D.
Two Esthis were made.An Audi powered one (mine) and a Rover 'K’turbocharged (250bhp). I am in contact with the German owner. Unfortunately his ‘K’ blew after 300km and the replacement engine lasted only 1300km. I understand he is looking to sell!
Probably of some importance is the fact that the logbook says Maker LOTUS, Model ESTHI.
Had to get a certificate of Conformity from Lotus and they mailed me and asked for some photos for their office!
I think I will end up putting up my own website for the Esthi. I still have my Audi S1 Exige so there is always reason to look in here.

What about a ‘Projects’ section then?
never mind all this where’s the bloody roof gone!!!
I bet it’s reight weapon!

So many questions, Mr Admin - could this site lend Ken a hand in allowing him a bespoke place to post?
Ken -
Would it be a major exercise to retro fit the clams to an ordinary car?
Any chance that Lotus could offer any assistance?
I am guessing that the front clam would be very straight forward. The rear is a bit more complex. because a fair weight acts down on the two swivel points and the current clam includes metal to spread the load. I am looking at doing CF clams from the moulds. Already had a couple of offers of help in that regard.
Don’t expect anything from Lotus. When I asked for the Certificate of Conformity they told me that it wasn’t strictly a Lotus. Then they changed their mind and also asked for a couple of pictures of it ‘for the office wall’.
By the way, I am not a newbie. I was one of the first to join this site, but I keep forgetting my password! I think I have 4 identities here.

Here you go CLICKY
Hopefully it can keep busy enough to stay open !
Thank you.

Ken
