10mm aluminum plate turned up for making wing uprights
New lightweight brackets. Holds the wing, the exhaust and the oil catch tank. Managed to remove half a kilo from them aswell. Also you can see the multiple holes to allow me to send the wing further back if I want more downforce/better efficiency for trackdays
New lithium iron battery turned up from America today. Its made how small it is. Only weighs 1.3kg and will happily power my racecar. Picture next to a regular lead battery for reference

yep its a shorai, bought it from the US via ebay, took about 7 days to arrive, £160 to my door.

Had a mess with my collection on canards and im going to go with one, so will pretty much look like this, all i have left to do is add my wheelarch vents and a few additions to the underside of the splitter
fitted my rear wing to see how the wing uprights are coming along, cutting out with angle grinder and a portable drill is hard work!! its already massively stiffer than the old uprights which is good news
made a pair of rear wickers to help reduce lift
also found more damage from brands
broke the steering rack casing and bent the track rod
also twisted a wishbone
The benefits of running an over the top exhaust continue as I can now run extra bracing between the wishbones, running the pair of braces I would think should help avoid any undue toe changes under heavy braking as alot more of it is tied together than before
Finally we though it on the scales to see how it was, it seems just like most people the old girl has put some weight on over xmas so at the moment its 720kg with no fuel, but also no undertray or diffuser, so with the lighter battery and roof and finish lightening the wing uprights it will be 710kg.
So after long thoughts and discussions I have decided to go intercooler route, with 2 four inch feeds running into a box to feed the intercooler, if I can manage the air flow and volume in the way I have it planned it will be work another 10kg and give engine cooling and reliability improvements
little bit more work done over the last week or so, fitted the front canards and got myself a nice little lotus badge
also decided to pull the head off so that i can get it ported, im sending the turbo off for a bigger compressor wheel aswell
im going to try and keep the same level of peak torque but with more power and a wider power band as at the moment my turbo runs out of puff at 6000rpm and power drops off so i change at 6500rpm, i would like to make peak power at 6500rpm which will allow to me to run to 7000rpm and hopefully give me a 3000rpm powerband.
One thing that was also interesting was when I pulled the head off it turns out im running simple trophy pistons and infact might be running 75 turbo rods, so I guess I might be the biggest power OEM component bottom end k series out there!

well im not sure how long it will be now, CNC heads rang me today to say the head is no good as the bores that the followers sit in are all scored and said its not worth doing any work to, so now i have to try and find a good head to use and the concern when looking at all the engines on ebay is could I end up in the same situation with one of them

That car is fucked now though, the temp tags may well be ‘ok’ but mine aren’t exactly still fully stick to the chassis. They also won’t let you know if the alloy has been locally annealed in places and could be as floppy as an octogenarians knob.
I have to agree with Muu, he is a character alright but pretty harmless. Since he has been on the lotus scene has anyone anything to complain about him other than the fashion he has built his car to? Has he ripped anyone off? Sold stuff that has not been described properly? Bought stuff that he hasnt paid for? Fucked someones missus that he shouldnt have done? Has anyone a genuine complaint about him with his dealings in the Lotus world other thanthe crazy approach he had to it? If the answer is yes then pleasse let us know his wrong doings.
I can only go on what i see, and have seen and hes taken a lot of flack (fairly) but has also had a lot of personal attack just because of his approach which has run off his back like water off a duck, hes never once retaliated with a personal attack against anyone as i have seen.
Other than his strange approach we have to take him on face value. Not what others say of him.
