Thanks guys. The trouble is that I have been told (and read things) by a reliable source (Dave Andrews) that the vvc internals are OK to around 180 bhp, but one shouldn’t go much higher than this or rev over the 7300 as the pistons are not up to it (in contrast to the vhpd). [If I misheard I apologise at this stage.] Hence I would need forged pistons, possibly new conrods. I thought that it would then be better to get the scholar 1.9 block and forged pistons. The added cost is not huge for the block and I would need the pistons anyway. By having a bigger capacity, I could aim for a less stressed engine to get the same sort of power (or at least I think so).
Cheers
Andrew
