K Series mods for an S2 111s

The trouble is that I have been told (and read things) by a reliable source (Dave Andrews) that the vvc internals are OK to around 180 bhp, but one shouldn’t go much higher than this or rev over the 7300 as the pistons are not up to it (in contrast to the vhpd). [If I misheard I apologise at this stage.] Hence I would need forged pistons, possibly new conrods. I thought that it would then be better to get the scholar 1.9 block and forged pistons. The added cost is not huge for the block and I would need the pistons anyway. By having a bigger capacity, I could aim for a less stressed engine to get the same sort of power (or at least I think so).

I’d go for a 1.9 with say, BP285Hs. Easier to live with that having solid tappets, won’t need to rev above 7K and will make you bags of torque.

Thanks again. Now to hunt around for a suitable donor engine. Anyone got anything lying around? I suppose MSC has loads after so many went honda.
