I heard that we may have to scratch another one off the list as Randy’s old car was involved in an accident at Oulton with Doug Setters driving. That car certainly has an interesting life from being Randy’s daily driver to running in the Britcar 24hr. Let’s hope it will live to race again…
Wow, didn’t hear about that. I presume Doug is OK? How bad is the car then? What happened? Bad news man.
If that car rides again I will be very impressed. I did not like taking photos as its not really on when someone has just crashed there car.
However I believe he was doing around 100mph… so picture no front or rear clams, battered rear subframe and very buckled TMRs crunching on the rear subframe as they pushed it along.
There was not alot left, a very sad sight indeed.

Thank you for your concern everyone. Still not sure what caused the car to leave the track at high speed a short way along the fast straight after exiting Cascades. I subsequently learnt that the data logger showed me travelling at 106mph when I left the track and hit the tyre wall on the infield on the driver side. It was a huge impact and the car was catapulted back across the track before coming to rest on the grass. I managed to hit the fire extinguisher button and power off. I was trapped in the car for some minutes before help arrived and I was eventually dragged out the passenger side by two paramedics and taken to the Medical Center. I had a minor head injury that looked worse than it was because of some blood but I was severely battered down my right side. Anyway I am back home now and having to take medication every two hours ubntil the end of the week. Really upset at wrecking the car which was my enjoyment and passion.
One thing that was alarming is that the extinguisher failed to fire. I was later advised that this was caused by the extinguisher cylinder breaking free of the mounting upon impact and then breaking the wiring circuit.

Cool - what are your first impressions? We should organise a SW London Honda Exige owners drink as I make that four of us.
First impressions… I can see what the fuss is about… its such a shame Lotus couldn’t / wouldn’t do a deal to get them as OE.
I managed to get out to Bicester and back today… the journey back on the A40 provided a bit of entertainment… it gets to 100 (kph obviously) faster than any lotus I drove before!
South West London Honda Exige Owners Club sounds like an interesting concept… pretty exclusive club I’d say. I’m now spending most of my time in Notting Hill these days, at the GFs, but I’d be up for a crawl through the traffic!
