i shared the informations about this S1 on a Lotus french forum
a guy was interested in the car, contacted UK sports cars, they sent him HPi and COC
the HPi is clear from the beginning…
he then sent the links of the threads on Seloc and here to UK sports cars, the answer was that people were mistaken and the car concerned was a green Europa, WTF!!!
then he contacted Maidstone (without telling them the answer of UK sports cars) and at his surprise, maidstone backed up Uk sports cars story!! they were talking about a green Europa! WTF!!
i got the documents from the french guy
HPI check in 2009: clear
some others Lotus sports documents filled the 14th of march 2009 (including the engineer driver certification): clear, car is good
HPI check the 11th Feb 2012: clear
so what’s the truth in this story? [/quote]
That’s really interesting , is this the case of the trade sticking together, or is someone telling porkies???
I’d love to hear the opinion of some of the longer term members here!!
When I read the thread on seloc I never understood it the same way as has been posted on here. Maidstone say “a car” or “the car”. It does not explicity refer to the Exige in the ad. So, maybe it’s all been blown up and someone can get a good deal…and the dealers are just correcting an undertanding.
Spend 200 on an inspection and someone could have a good deal, apart from the colour, it needs to be yellow.

Here are the exact words, I’m not sure if it’s a ‘play on words’
Lotus Exige S1, 2000. 27,000 miles with a full service history. Lotus Racing Green metallic. Black leather seats and Alcantara trim. Carbon airbox. Fitted with 190 bhp Lotus upgrade. Janspeed full sports exhaust system. Fitted with a TRACKER security device. Comes with a Engineer Drive Evaluation certificate from the Lotus Sports Open Day in March, 2009. Comes with EEC Certificate of Conformity (COC). Comes with 8 MOT certificates to confirm the modest mileage. Yokohama A048 tyres. Recent rear wheel bearings. Sony CD Radio. Comes with original Sales Invoice in with the extensive history file. Full MOT and service.
“Car came in to us for MOT work from them.We assessed car bwith corroded and damaged chassis plus a whole host of problems .To long to list.
Have subsequently found out car had insurance funded new chassis fitted 6 months ago.
They just forgot to fit one but have still charged insurance co for all the work they didn,t do!!!”
I am being picky but it does not say it was the Exige or even The car. It just says “car”, which could be any car… like an Europa. It may be a comment on the dealer and not on the specific car.
