Best 997GT2 intercooler - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums [/quote]
Excellent stuff
Pick the bones out of it, started reading and got bored
Lol , there’s loads of info and data on intercoolers on the Porker forums , just shows that rear mounted intercoolers can be improved with an uprated core and the same airflow .
Even mounted like this :
BBQ grille style!
Neil.
Lol yep maybe, go to BSK the NA’s have … Yep a WINDOW
Exactly ! But they can get big hp with low IATs , they have been doing it for years .
Looking at the pic of the yellow car look at the surface area and depth, the surface is huge and its pretty thin which is going to help alot.
You cant do that in an exige in the stock location though Also the porka looks like it has better airflow through the rear bootlid.
How are they ducting the air to the IC on the 911? I’m not saying its impossible on the exige but I think it needs more thought.
These boys did it, but look at the duct and the IC location for airflow through the rear of the IC. Again look at the surface area and depth.
Boothy
And what you can’t see is the depth of the ducting through the roof from the front scoop
Interesting to read on the poker forum that aftermarket tuners don’t always protect the motor actively with regards to egt temps and other parameters … the likes of Bosch spending megabucks writing full code on the other hand can .
+1 for standard unmolested ecu

True but that car runs more boost and hp than most of us and will run WOT with IATs around 40c racing .
I have talked to the people at Lanzante that made that car about the intercooler and all the testing they did.

The principle is still the same though mate, you might not need to do it on the same scale but something similar in design is what would work best imho.
RS200 style is what I would do if my car was just a track car and not bothered what it looked like .
That’s the car alright … often thought the same about the roof on that …
Certainly would catch air… trouble is the drag over 100 mph or so would be horrendous …
Course in the RS 200 drag ain’t an issue !
Love that car …
I think Frank loves em too cos I think he had one back in the day …
Was privileged to watch em through Sutton Park in the 80,s …RAC rally
Yeah I think Frank had a 900hp one , it was probably charge cooled though with 5 or 6 pre rads , love them , love all the old bonkers group Bs .
Yup I had the monster of all RS200s back in the day… I did have Garrett make a few special A/A cores for myself and Ford Motorsports back then for the rally x cars… I would do a top mount core if I were a racer…
You got any pics Frank of the engine bay + intercooler ?
What made you sell it ? Can’t imagine anything is like a 900hp RS200
mate of mine had a Golf that that was mid engined, did a high mount roof scoof (cut and folded the roof down) to get air into a cooler.

.C,Mon Frank ,tell us why you divorced her ?
Spinal surgery, I told myself if I live I’m sellin it all and buyin a boat…
Ronin is 61 ft. of racer crusier…
If I still had it do you think I would have bought an Elise ?
