Mike,Is this on an Exige? I am having a 3000rpm tickover a lot at the mo.(Ken - I followed your advice but no luck [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] )
Hi Russ, it has been known for this to be caused by the ECU, but almost every time its the throttle mechanism sticking where the throttle cable attaches to the throttle body, which prevents the butterflies from closing properly causing the engine to rev. A drop of high temperature oil applied down the sides of the cable attachment pulley often cures it. In extreme cases, you will need to have the assembly replaced under warranty. Other causes include sticking throttle pedal, the throttle cable sticking in its sheath, and foreign bodies to mention a few. Try some lube first though [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
Ok - cheers Tony, will give it a go. I had heard about this throttle body problem on the Elises plastic item, but not ours.

Could this be anything to do with my lack of cold start. No choke!
Choke! What’s that?
It’s what you do to a mechanic that has just sprayed the inside of your car black! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]
