Hi Fi

/Pats ALBA music cabinate

Denon AVC-A1HD something or other. Gathering dust :frowning:

Ooow yes , very nice.

now thats a setup

802s I always thought were the sweat spot of the range, although PITA to lift (used to work for dealer in hampton wick)

Combination of B&W Keff and Mission speakers all over the house mostly in AV systems.

Mine is all B&W and Dennon and it’s even louder than me.

And those with a good Hifi …
You owe it to yourself to buy 'Pendulum live at Brixton ’

Absolutely blows your senses …
I’ve got structural damage around most door frames now …

Never get the chance to appreciate quality sound at home (other than a 5.1 set-up for the ‘cinema’) but these have impressed me with classy mobile sound

We’ve moved over to house-full of Sonos gear about 18 months ago, which has changed the way we listen to music.
Along with a subscription to Spotify, we can now (and do) play anything anywhere in the house.
The Denon, Arcam, JM Lab setup hardly gets used now apart from for gaming…

Technics SP 10 Mk 3 Turntable -yeah baby
Rotel Pre-processor
Rotel 2x250W for fronts (ATC Studio monitors)
Rotel 5x120 for centre, sides and rears.
Rel Sub

Sonos round the house.

So is this Sonos stuff all that then? Does it actually sound good or is it all about the wireless streaming?

Boothy

wireless streaming/ convenience
sounds OK with decent speakers but it ain’t ‘hi-fi’
I really like it.
The novelty of how clever it is hasn’t worn off

Sonos is fantastic for convenience, any music you’ve got stored or from Spotify etc. via iphone, all around the house, garage, garden.
just makes life easier, used as my alarm clock now too.
It is addictive though, thinking of the sub next!!

My only experience of Sonos is a few party’s at a friends house who has it. If you have a few people round, all with their phones on, its bloody terrible. It repeatedly cuts out and seems to take ages to sort its life out and come back on.

Has anyone else found this, or is my mate just a numpty?

We installed a Livingcontrol multi room system in Dads house a few years ago , it works great with the Kef ceiling speakers , it has its own ripped hard drive that your iPad or wall mount LCD screen controls so no drop out or lag , expensive though .

Jeez … if moomin says it’s expensive then it REALLY is expensive

Lol , its amazing how fast hifi and home AV moves on , just a few years ago this sort of system was how you had to do it, Crestron systems were bonkers expensive, about twice that of the Livingcontrol , wifi and iphones/ipads changed all that and now you can get the same result with a fraction of the cost , the Downside with the Livingcontrol system is that it needs CDs to rip first to store in its hard drive and they will be obsolete soon the way things are going , once the CD is ripped the system will load the album artwork from the internet .

As I’d had my Exige for seven years before I realised it had a CD player, I don’t think I have much to contribute here…

building a linux music server then using raspberry pi to run clients to amps and screens

anything that needs to sound good pop a decent DAC in there, jobs a carrot.

Woahhhh,…mind you don’t hit me with those propellers
