I turn the key, and the ignition comes on, then I press the button on the fob, and turn it the last bit for it to start. If you turn the last bit without pressing the fob it wont start.
Agree, but the priming noises happen before you press the fob not after don’t they?
Yeah, fuel pump primes when the key turns. On the diagram, the immobiliser cuts the coil pack, and the starter solenoid.

Thanks for checking, I think I must be looking for issues now
OK I’m having similar initial symptoms - starter is cranking but engine is not firing. Fuel pump can be heard priming on turning on the ignition and the immobiliser can be heard to click when pressing the key fob.
Car is left on a battery optimiser for weeks at a time and appears to keep the battery in excellent condition. Battery is brand newish and well up to the cranking required and indeed does turn the engine over at a pretty high speed for a long period of time. Engine just won’t catch, or occasionally does catch but sounds like a single isolated cylinder.
I have done the following:
- cleaned coil pack and connections
- fitted Magnecor HT leads
but neither have made any difference.
There was some talk about TPS - what should I do/check on this? Any other ideas?
Steve
Did you get to the bottom of this? I have the same issue - No spark or fuel.
It has to be alarm/immob but where to start?
Ideas chaps?
sorry no - more regular use and drier weather seem to have driven off the symptoms - at least for now. My best guess is that it has just been dampness, but I’m going to clean every other sensor ust to make sure.
