Now I really rather like the MX-5’s handling, lots of fun.
It doesn’t ride as well as a Lotus and certainly doesn’t have the pace (not a track car) but it’s bomb proof, is semi practical and costs 30% less, so I can see where they were coming from.

ps. I use to work for Autocar but I’d like to think I’m not biased. EVO is easily the best car mag out there these days.
What an awful (Autocar) article! Full or inaccuracies. Engine size of the new Toyota, not knowing Air Con is on the (later) S1s, or that full-harnesses were an option on the S1, he’s missed the fact that trackday car residiuals rise in summer, etc.
ABS is confirmed, odd for a serious drivers tool. The writer didn’t like the stoppers but suspects they’ll be improved. Are they aim it at newbie trackers? Or, just something they need to do to shift it? Have Lotus done ABS before?
It does state the car is quicker, at least in the hands of Gavin Kershaw - 2 secs a lap at Hethel.
There’s new rims from Rimstock. As they using the same size wheels, this could be another options for us. Great if they’re lighter!
That 2 seconds could easily be explained by the standard fitment of A048 tyres in place of the A039s.
The new wheels will almost certainly NOT fit the MK1. I guess the MK2 Exige uses the same wishbones and hubs as the MK2 Elise in which case the wheels will have a very different offset from ours.
