Exige S1 for sale in Switzerland [by dealer now]

Just reference the comment that nobody had contacted him from here after he had placed the ad.

This is a low traffic site and most people on here who want an S1 have got one. Seloc (shudder) is the place to post them. It’s also a very niche market so will always take a long time to sell. My gut feeling is 35-40k for a nice low miles uk spec car is where they are today for a prompt sale, 45 tops, and what’s not to like about that?

The car is now for sale by a Swiss Dealer asking 47.500 CHF:

The car looks still stunning and the price is very competitive in my eyes.

So about £36500, looks nice in the pictures

Plus Vat and probably import duties as its not in the EU?

Yes, VAT has to be added. But no import duties simce the car has been manufactured within the EU.

For me, I’m only interested in getting a RHD car. So what’s involved to convert it from LHD? Is it possible (I’m sure it is!)? Are the necessary parts readily available? What are the approx costs involved? Your views would be greatly appreciated!

Many Lotus Elise have been converted from RHD to LHD so plenty of conversion reports around.
The other way around is same same but different

Costs for the parts alone should be something like 1500 GBP. For a list of parts have a look here:

The job itself could be done by yourself if you are an average talented mechanic.
The conversion shouldn’t be too complicated but it will take quite some time to do it. My very rough estimation would be something like 50 to 100 hours.

The good thing is you can take your time with the conversion. Just collect the necessary part while you are already enjoying the car.
And comes sale time you may offer the car with all the parts to convert it back to LHD.

Thanks Klaus, that gives me something to think about! Will do a bit more research, but does still seem a bit of a pricey option when adding shipping fees, VAT & potential conversion to RHD etc. Hmm, decisions, decisions…
