Exige Cup 240

The difference being? Both have 243hp, weight?

Cup 240 car (road version) should arguable be lighter, without the lecky bits & custom interior. should be quicker then!!
I would like an explination from Lotus as well. All I’ve had so far is that this time their ‘covering themselves’ IRTA ‘exagirated the 240R times, this is more realistic’

I heard that it was more to do with the circuit car with sc would be doing sub 10 and the 240R was a bit optimistic.

Weight maybe but you’d only think this would be a little bit. I could imagine the roll cage and extinguisher add a bit, but does the road version have these? It has the standard Exige wheels as well, rather than the lighter 240R ones. Don’t quite understand this unless it’s to preserve the “exclusivity” of the 240R.

I don’t think the weight would amount for such a significant performance difference. I think you need to ask the question and establish whether the 240R times were optimistic or if the Cup 240 has a different ECU flash.

The road version doesn’t have the fire & kill switch, or the full cage. Think your right that the weight will be about the same, certainly nothing like 0.6 of a second difference. I’ve asked about the ECU and was assured it was the same as the 240R, in fact that everything was the same. Just can’t understand the difference, no logical reason for it.
Does the 240R achieve the 3.9 in the real world? Any independent tests to substantiate this?

Not sure about preserving the “exclusivity” of the 240R, this is clearly a different model and a seperate limited run of 50. Maybe more to do with trying to appease the 240R owners who have every right to be abit pi55ed off.

I wouldn’t get hung up about the quoted performance figures. In the real world you’re/will be driving stupendously fast motas - just enjoy them

Fully intend to

I’d have a go but I don’t think it would be very scientific, accurate, or err… fast

You’re right it does seem a bit odd but like Pesky says, irrespective of any figures, they’re both bloody great cars.

Will be interesting to see them all on the track. Plus see how mine fairs once it has a sc fitted
