Dave is sending me some pictures, I don’t have them yet. I’ll post when I get them.

Teaser for you, finished head. Crud removed, minor flowing, shrouds removed, valves cleaned shaped and lapped.

Head linished to avoid another skin.

The retirement of such skilled people is definitely a worry . . . maybe I should get my spare engine stripped to see what state it is in

Head collected from Dave Andrews. His verdict now is that it’s a good one, not least it is hard and not porous. However it has been worked on by a bandit in its life. One valve seat was wonky (from new), it was full of oily mud and not fit to run, both manifold faces had been “cleaned” with a disk sander so were not flat, they are now! Also, the valve shims were miles out, just random shins bunged in! He feels the bottom half of the engine is nothing too special other than the forged pistons and selected rods and crank. However, it’s tempting to get that done and have a full dva engine as a spare.

Engine pornography follows.
