It might be that all S’s have it, my 2006 certainly does. Depending on ECU it can also be retrofitted by just adding the button as the wiring all exists in the handbrake tunnel. I considered adding it to my NA Elise but never really found myself wanting it.
It’s not great though, inconsistent on the road and nigh undriveable on track as your car will want to spin up the inside rear which usually doesn’t rob you of momentum… But TC sure will!
I’m not sure whether it came in with the black dash or whether it was the 240pp onwards, but later cars got a variable TC which may be better… But I’m not too sure.
I would have thought it would have been required rear driven. Never had any hairy moments in the wet?
I know that on a couple of occasions the TC helped me out in the RS4 and it was 60/40 rear biased. Albeit a massively heavy vehicle compared to an exige. I had a couple of track days in the RS4 with traction control on or partially on and it was great.
I think the Exige/Elise has got a lot more grip than people expect (certainly more than I did). Mid-engine layout will be much of this I suppose, where it tends to catch you out the first few times is a touch of understeer going into a tightening corner with a bit too much speed on a greasy road - then much like an older 911 you can easily transition it into oversteer with some gas - but you generally have to jab at it and be a bit ‘provocative’.
My Exige has only really surprised me once on the road, I bought it about a year ago and did a weekend driving around the Lake District in January(?) for the Exiges.com meet there. About 3 miles from home I was trundling through a town at 30 and once the NSL arrived I mashed the gas a bit and the rears had none of it - but this was dark, cold, wet and possibly a bit icy… I later discovered my rear tyres to be ancient and cracked so was probably also part of it. I had TC enabled btw and it did nothing to stop me facing the pavement on a 45 degree angle
If you turn in much harder/sharper than is necessary then the car will rotate on entry - great fun on track especially with a tiny lift in the middle but that’s not something that TC will help with in any case.
