Yeah I appreciate now that I should have stayed out of it and my view is not what exiges is about.
I am however always happy to talk about the TV industry over a beer, I might even buy you one with my ill-gotten gains

Actually, Iām warming to F1 on SKY. It might be a good excuse to start going back to the pub on a Sunday lunch timeā¦and no cooking either!
Actually, ā¦a damn glitch made me post this twice so Iām changing the second post to thisā¦
Iād rather pay for lunch than for SKYā¦!
As an ex BBC employee im frustrated with a anger directed to the bbc.
ĆÆĀæĀ½40m to ĆÆĀæĀ½18m is a good financial deal, when they get 50% of the shows and highlights. Better bang for buck etc. However I donāt agree with the situation.
Biggest losers other than the fans are the small teams, who dont see money from bernie and are 90% funded by sponsors. At least 4x less viewers equals less eyeballs on the brand, and the percieved value drops.

Benja - I donāt think your analogy works - your bosses have been shown up for what they really are but I appeciate they pay your bills.

Benja - hope my post did not give that impression - it was not my intention and Iām certain your employment status gives you a different perspective on this that we all benefit from when you post - broad church and all that.
I may change my mindā¦my gf says I do that all the time!
Muu - do BBC publish any figures on what they pay EJ and DC?

Honestly its no bother Steve.
Yup my (considerable) tenure certainly gives me a different perspective but a public forum debating an emotive topic is probably not the best place for it.
Donāt forget to read the in-depth Sniff Petrol report HERE
I guess it has all been said, but business is business.
I dont see how Benjas bosses have been shown up to be anything but good business people and I dont think any companies profits should be described as āobsceneā
We pays our money and we takes our choice which you cant say about the BBC license fee (that has always wound me up)
I do like the BBC coverage and Iām sure Sky will do a good job. I already subscribe to a full sky package as I like watching films and I like football.
But I guess if you dont like the new deal, then dont watch, simple as that really.
Wonder what sports package I am going to need to watch this, anyone know? (I already am a Sky HD subscriber, but no sports)
EFA
To be clear that was in reference to Formula One Group and not Sky.

So not really a choice then
I was getting it for āfreeā when you consider we all have a TV licence but now i have to pay again to someone else who outbid the BBC?
Fair comments I guess.
I do hate paying the bloody TV license fee though. At least with Sky, you make a choice and then pay the money and you get to watch what you want.
Not wishing to open the old wounds again but if anybody does want Sky then I have access to a new staff deal with no up-front charges for a package that includes Sky Sports HD.
Worth it if youāre thinking of getting Sky - PM me if youāre interested.
What about if you have been a loyal customer for years and years. Is there any discount for us???
Sean
try telling sky you are going to cancel, they may make you an offer?
Iāve checked with Rupert and he said I could buy you a bag of nuts on expenses next time I see you
I doubt it, probably under a 1 liner in the budget
