At a crossroads

[quote=Elise111S]There will ALWAYS be quicker cars…so what?!? I’ve owned 52 cars now chasing some fantasy about what is best, even owning the same car more than once and the same derivative more than 8 times! Find your Karma, Chris. If the next new car is quicker, better, blah blah blah, so what? Enjoy what you have but as I said in my earlier post just go and drive it and sod everything else. Whatever you sell the Exige for, it just won’t be as sublime or as supple and certainly won’t be as useable, both on the road and track. Take stock, find what you need to find to make you happy, and stick with it. So why did you buy that Exige…???

Wise words from Kurt. Chris, go racing, find a new buzz mate. Lol straights…wtf are they all about anyway. You know its about the people as much a the car buddy.

Chris, sometimes I have similar thoughts …BUT …
I am confident that the Exige is as good if not better than money in the bank
There’s not many cars out there that have the prospects of appreciation and ultra low running costs for the level of performance it offers.
As you know , mines off the road at the moment , but I never ever regret owning it simply because it is a useable investment…
I made the mistake 20 years ago of selling my Lotus Sunbeam and still have the odd dream that I still have it ! … True that is by the way.

Chris I went through a similar dilemma last year - My experience;

I drove Spa last March with Pete757, which was the ultimate driving experience / weekend for me. Shortly after this Pete, a good friend of mine sold his car and I lost the plot in respect to my S1.
I sold my S1 but the sale fell through and then I went through a number of weeks of dealing with dreamers, chancers and time wasters. In the end I came to my senses and remembered why I had had first bought an S2 Exige and the upgraded to an S1.

As far as I am concerned I have my perfect car sitting in my garage rare, characterful, an investment, relatively cheap to run bearing in mind how it is used and generally well received where ever it goes how many other cars can you say tick all of those boxes.
As Kurt has said there will always be a faster, lighter, better braked car and not forgetting there are individuals like MarcP who will out drive the likes of me irrespective of how much driver training I have.

Happy decision making

Spot on!
Just drive.

Go racing…handling is an important as power, as is driver ability in the corners, for example see how a properly set up Morgan 3 wheeler, will slice through a field of bigger, more powerfully ( x4) cars in some cases.

I’ve raced a Spa dozens of times with over 400 bhp on tap , and my best dices , race long, have been with cars with less power, but lighter, and better handling cars , with drivers of greater ability than me, and I wasn’t a slouch , in my prime, with 5 or 6 podium finishes at Spa in my career

There’s a Porsche GT3 RS Gen 11, in today’s Sunday Times classified, 2010/11 a snip at 99,995 :smiley:

In fact there’s two , the other one only 112,995 …
