Anyone know much about RC Cars?

Mmmmmm Avante

I am mate, fully paid up  [/quote]

I’m Singapore_959 drop me a hi sometime

Alex - DF03 if you want to go 4wd Tamiya buggy in that bracket, imo. Enjoy, you’ll have fun whatever you get!

Ahhh bloody hell, small world. Seen you post loads  I now consider myself a small fry tamiya lover in the exige world

lol, see you over there sometime. :sunglasses:

Apologies Series 1 I’ve just looked again at your link and noticed the Slash in your link is 2wd - didn’t even know there was a 2wd version but presumably doesn’t have the issues I heard about. Presumably this would be quite similar to the Bandit chassis.
Seems quite a good deal
I also assume that you guys recommend Modelsport as a supplier - my local suppliers are Apex models and MK racing but not seen much about them on the forums.
Cheers
Alex

Boothy, just seen this on fleabay:

Thats the sort of thing you should take a punt on, the Avante mk2 is a DF03 which is a cracking chassis its just less popular as the tamiya guys see it as not being a worthy successor to the Avante mk1 and 2001 which were range topping and ahead of their time. Still a smart car tho and I have seen some built to look really smart.

Yeah just had a look at DF03 dark impacts and they are 135 once they have been delivered so that Avante looks a bargain.
Would go great with a 9t EZrun in it!

EDIT just spotted the postage on the Avante, ouch, go with a dark impact.

An excuse to post more pictures

Yes, the 2wd Slash is very enjoyable car. The suspension works particularly well - it rolls just enough to drive, and slide  , like real baja/stadium trucks, and being Traxxas its a tough cookie and water proof. The bigger wheels and platform make it more versatile than the bandit.

I’ve used MK before, they were good. Never used APEX but not heard anything negative about them. Boothy and I link to modelsport as they are the Tamiya importer and have a good rep and Tamiya club members get discounts. Tell them you are Boothy  I’m overseas otherwise I’d offer to help.

Nice Fire Dragon, Boothy. Aways liked the colours of it and the 4 shocks.

I like your gliders Alex! Serious skill. Like to learn that one day.

Those gliders are ace … flown a couple of MarkLeavesleys …
Cost a fortune too !!!

Hmmm now I like this

Oh deer i’ve just bought an RC Helicopter :astonished:

As a result of this thread, I bought my youngest son a Slash Traxxes Mike Jenkins for Xmas!!!

BRILL! The boys used this in ths snow and ice for hours over the last 3 days… 2 batt packs meant no breaks!!! Loved the water proof construction and drifting was a hoot!!!

Thx Alex for staring this thread!!! I enjoyed the play as much as my kids… esp since the Exige is housebound at the mo!!

Hi Pete
I think we’ve decided on the Slash as well - just waiting to aee if the price comes down in January  as it was a bit more than we budgeted.

Alex

HI Mate!

I did no research! But the section of the store who sold me it is run by the editor of RCRR or something… ‘the’ RC mag in the uk! Sold it because it is basically waterproof… he also dropped a model off a ladder to show me how strong they are!

Goes great! Brill fun too… and I can learn all about how to set up a suspension on my real car by practicing on all the fully adjustable stuff on the truck!

Internet price too… 185 which I thought was good.

If you do get one, bring it to Anglesey to race over the lunch hour!!!
