Ok, I put the siliconed silicone tube in tonight and the boot is as soild as it gets, however its now a bit harder to shut.
Before it shut fine with just the tube but now it takes a good firm shove. Can the catch be adjusted or will I be better to just use standard tube?
I dont want to stress the cable and would rather settle for most of the way there rather than damage something…
Not quite. They allow you to stiffen up the boot lid and get rid of any side to side flex, but you can do that by adjusting the existing strikers, or by heading down to your local B&Q and getting some appropriately sized nuts and bolts and replacing the strikers yourself. Not worth the purchase and shipping price.
What Boothy was concerned about was if you stiffen it up and put pressure on the wing you then see some flex in the lid nearer the hinges as the point of the boot under the wing isn’t supported. So he’s stiffened the boot seal to give more support for the point.

I was thinking more of the B & Q route than going for the real deal but thanks for the clarification. should read more carefully.
