£20 to paint a car...

Horses for courses dude , if you like it !
Not sure what reaction you was expecting on exiges other than OMG .

I’m just having a sense of humour failure.

I think I must be due on soon.

I went for Satin Greg. I don’t like it in black, everyone else does but it’s not for me. I like the satin finish though so will probably try a different colour. Rattle can is a genuinely nasty, where as satin would give a neat overall finish. Supply the parts and it shouldn’t be anymore than a grand, £330 a year over three years of hooning so not a bad consumable. Don’t use that stuff, it’ll not give you the Q car factor you’re looking for.

How to get a matte - flat paint finish - YouTube

Edit for spelling. Tired.

Jonny’s right or just get it wrapped for similar money, the guy that did mine did a mint job.

Or alternatively do whatever the hell you like,…just get the damned thing finished and bring it to a trackday. Maybe you could get yours done for Anglesey next Spring too

I like it

The finish of the GT3 clams is so rough anyway, plus I have widened both front and rear clams, and modified a number of different areas, it would take a paint shop a long time to get the bodywork perfect, and I’m just not that bothered.

I don’t want the car to look like a shiny supercar that should go fast, I will be more happy with it looking tatty, but mechanically be sound.

I did email death spray custom though once, and he agreed to paint it for me if I asked him to.

Death Spray Custom paintwork?

What I am thinking is, I would like the whole car painted with a kind of retro race car paint job using all of the brand logos that have helped build the car.

Is this something you think you might be interested in?

It currently looks like this…

Hi Greg

thanks for your message

Interesting project you got going there, looks like a beast.

If you like the DSC style then I’m sure something can be cooked up for it.

Where are you based and what is the schedule of the car?

David

Haha. Fair play on the rattle can look Greg. Everyone can point and moan when you lap them every five minutes.

I personally think it’s a great idea to just spraycan the car.
There are bound to be a few tweaks you’ll need to do with the newly fitted bodywork as things settle in and spending a fortune on a concourse spray job at this time would be a waste…
I see the matt black as a temporary primer for your machine and will guess that one day you’ll probably get the urge to refinish it proper … but now ain’t the time eh ??
It’ll look scarey in matt black , enjoy .

Yep, maybe a years worth of driving it then re-consider a ‘proper’ paint job

And if this one catches fire , you won’t notice

Ouch, low blow.

He knows I’m only joking , like I said horses for courses , still think its a shame though .

It’s only primer buddy

I could lose sleep over this car catching fire.

Last time it was a friends brother that deliberately set fire to it, the car is now stored 140 miles away and very few people know where I live, so there is an extremely slim chance of that ever happening again.

There have been a few high power Audi Exige/Elise cars go up in flames though while driving, that is why my car will not be getting driven until John has fitted a full plumbed in FEV fire extinguisher system and hand held extinguisher.

jeez , why did he do that ? :open_mouth:

A falling out in the pub after a few hours drinking.

Sounds like a woman was involved somewhere along the way …
Elaborate u tosser ??
Lol

No, this is a public forum and my Dad told me the other day that my Mum had found it after googling my name! :astonished: :open_mouth:

Google is freaking dangerous … Trust me on this folks !

Congrats on getting this far! Sometimes from an outside perspective it seemed doubtful at times.

No point asking for opinions on details now. All we want to see is black lines on the tarmac and read about you raving on about how much fun you had driving it! Get the pedals etc done and MOT the thing!
