177 to 190BHP

Minister Power (telephone 01632 682577) do K-eries tuning for, amongst others, Bell & Colvill. They also provide/maintain the sealed race engines for one of the Caterham-sponsored Seven series (Roadsports I think).EVO magazine, page 24 of the February issue, raved about the PTP EVO engine.Quote ‘It is easily the fastest Elise I’ve driven bar the outrageous 300bhp BBR turbo. and really gives the Lotus Sports suspension and superb uprated brakes a hard time when you’re ringing it out. The extra revs (max. power 220bhp @ 8250rpm) take it to an indicated 82mph in second and 112mph in third…Yet it’s an engine you could use daily’ Their reservation is it’s cost, and PTP acknowledge that expecting their 160bhp conversion to be the most popular.I have dealt with PTP in obtaining the ITG Cool Air Box and was impressed with their help and willing to discuss, not just dis-interested salesmen. There again that is only my opinion!

I contacted PTP about their EVO engine, hoping it could be offered as an upgrade instead of buying a whole new engine. They said this can’t be done, so it does look a bit pricey. They also offered a test drive for 100 which is refundable if you buy the engine.I’ve also spoken to Minister Power, who are working on an upgrade specifically for the Exige, they are aiming for about 200 bhp but they’re not quite ready to talk about the price yet.

only 200 bhp, that is a bit disappointing specially knowing that they do a 230 bhp version for the catherham RS500. I’mean, with the 192 upgrade and a proper exhaust you almost get 200 bhp. cheers, AGYNJO for the information that the turbo technics upgrade uses a super charger…You know, my English is sometimes really letting me down…that does make a big difference. then again, I wish you hadn’t said this 'cause now I really want one myself…
