Re: Do we think this tensioner is done?

I think I found a pattern part for the damper unit on its own:

VKM 61072

Can get these for around £40, and I reckon this can be swapped without messing around jacking up the engine - so seems like a logical place to start?!

Re: What's a roof worth?

Mine is a JS one, as far as I can tell it's just a like for like copy of an OEM one.

Mine is missing the interior trim bits and it's not lined, Jon also sells the trim bits but I just never got round to thinking they were important enough to buy

Do we think this tensioner is done?

My car has a new noise! Wooo something to fix. It's a very light rhythmic grumble, can only hear it at idle - any revs at all drown it out. Clutch/gears make no difference and it sounded like it was coming from the belt side of the engine. It's audible in the cockpit (just) and if you stick your ear...

Re: 2006 Exige S

You were flying on that session! Looked really impressive. Good news about the gearbox temps as well. Great information  According to GoPro I was going about 3 sec quicker than earlier in summer. you will not go wrong with performance friction pads, bit dusty, but the best pad i used on my...

Re: 2006 Exige S

With Covid restrictions ramping up again my next trackday of Anglesey at the end of October was feeling threatened so I wanted to try and get out in September. Everything has been fully booked all summer so I put a shout out onto a FB group which is intended for the buying/selling of track time and ...

Re: New exige owner

It's hard to tell from the photo but I guess that's some sort of strike damage. I suppose that's a downside of having the radiator vertically stood up like that. Do you know if there's any water in the system? It might just be the fins that are damaged in which case it shouldn't leak - but if the ba...

Keep at it, alternate 9/3 with 12/6 and she'll pop eventually... Hopefully!

Re: Pressure washer

My Nilfisk (C110?) is well on the way to Triggers Broom now as there's a fairly good 'aftermarket' for them with hoses etc. The main body has never let me down and hasn't been particularly well looked after, spent its first few years in an outdoor storage 'bin' that wasn't protected from frost or an...

Re: Burnt charcoal canister

Honestly not sure on a root cause other than dodgy wiring etc. It is a charcoal canister after all so petrol fumes are involved.

I'd potentially consider removing it completely, without knowing the root cause I'd be nervous of reintroducing a fire risk by putting it back!
